Spinnaker

A spinnaker is a large, lightweight triangular sail designed for sailing downwind and on broad reaches in lighter wind conditions. Charter customers encounter spinnakers most often during longer coastal passages or when conditions favor downwind sailing. The sail requires proper setup, jibing technique, and prompt handling to avoid damage or tangling. Many bareboat charters forego spinnakers due to their complexity; skippered charters more commonly deploy them.
