Lazy bag
A lazy bag is a fabric sleeve mounted along the boom that stores and contains the mainsail when lowered. It keeps the sail organized, protected, and off the deck between uses. Charter guests encounter lazy bags on sailboats when raising or lowering mainsails; they simplify sail handling and keep the deck clear. On some charter boats, the mainsail stays partially stowed in the lazy bag during operation, reducing the need for manual sail furling.
