In-mast furling

In-mast furling is a sail-handling system where the mainsail rolls into a pocket inside the mast itself, eliminating the need for a separate boom. Charter guests encounter this feature when evaluating a boat's ease of handling and crew requirements. The system reduces the physical effort needed to raise and lower the sail, making it popular on boats chartered bareboat or with minimal crew. However, the mainsail may have slightly reduced efficiency compared to traditional configurations, and the mechanism requires periodic maintenance.
