A chartplotter is a navigation system that combines an electronic chart display with GPS positioning, showing the vessel's real-time location on digital nautical charts. Charter guests typically see the chartplotter in the main cabin or wheelhouse, where the skipper uses it for passage planning and course tracking. Modern chartplotters integrate additional data like depth soundings, AIS targets (other vessels), and radar information, essential for safe offshore navigation.
