Mistral wind

A cold, northwesterly wind that develops in the Rhone Valley in southern France and flows into the Mediterranean. Charter customers sailing in southern France, the Gulf of Lions, or nearby Mediterranean areas encounter this strong, gusty wind most often in winter and spring, though it can occur year-round. The Mistral creates rough sea conditions and significantly affects sail selection and routing decisions for charterers operating in affected regions.
