Onboard Generator

An onboard generator is a diesel or fuel-powered electrical generator installed on a yacht to provide AC power when the main engines are not operating. Charter guests rely on generators when anchored or moored without shore-power connections to run cabin lights, refrigeration, air conditioning, and other electrical systems. Most generators operate on-demand and must be manually started; they consume fuel, produce noise and exhaust, and etiquette typically restricts operating hours to avoid disturbing nearby vessels.
